Wasps are one of the most common pests we have in the UK, they can number thousands in just one nest, be aggressive, are a perennial summertime nuisance, and at their worst can even cause allergic reaction through stinging.
Nests can form in soil banks, roof spaces, wall cavities and trees. Colonies are started afresh each year by overwintered Queens who lay many thousands of eggs in hexagonal cells in the nest. At AMS we are LANTRA qualified in Professional Wasp and Bee Control.
AMS Pest Control experienced technicians can provide you with a wasp nest removal treatment usually the same day.
Frequently asked questions – Wasps
Will the problem go away on its own?
Wasp colonies live for one season and then die out. However, towards the end of the season, wasps tend to become very aggressive and are much more likely to sting. Also, the longer you leave the nest in place, the larger it will get throughout the summer!!
How long will it take to get rid of the infestation?
Treatment usually takes under an hour and the wasp activity usually ceases within 24hrs.
Can I purchase wasp nest destroyer and do it myself?
Domestic type wasp sprays are generally based on pyrethrins. This is a chemical which excites the wasps and can cause them to to become very aggressive. We have the appropriate chemicals, and protective equipment to make sure no one is harmed during treatment.
How much will the treatment cost?
In a domestic setting the average wasp nest treatment costs £60
It is important to differentiate between wasps and bees and identify your nest correctly. Bees are an essential part of our eco system, they are beneficial insects and of great importance as pollinators and producers of honey and wax. We would never recommend the chemical treatment of a bees nest. We will come out and identify your nest for you free of charge and advise on the best way to proceed. If there is no other option but to remove the bees for safety reasons, then we can put you in contact with a specialist company who will remove the nest and re-home the colony
